Loch Lomond Family trip (24th-28th July 2023)

As a little family get away with my mum, dad, sister and grandad, we headed up to Loch Lomond in Glasgow, Scotland!! A place I have visited with my mum, dad, and sister since I was very little (I can vividly remember going to the Halloween parties in the hotel and the endless fun we had on the slide in the pool!).

This time was different since it was the first time bringing my grandad along, however this did not stop my sister and I from hitting the loch with jet skis, paddle boards and canoes! Every day, for around 1-4 hours, we would complete a series of water sport activities, my favourite being the jet skis, and no this isn’t just because they go fast… okay fine, it is.

Although it was summer, the loch was very, very cold. My sister can vouch for that as she fell off the paddle board into the freezing water and was rather shocked at just how cold it was!! I will never not laugh at the events leading to, and after, Abbie fell off the paddle board!!! Imagine falling off a paddle board, someone asking you if you need help and your response being “aw no I’m just taking a swim thank you!”, come on Abs, that was hardly believable!

Anyways, the jet skis will always be a highlight!! We ventured to different little islands on the loch as well as racing each other and seeing who can make the biggest donuts in the waves at the fastest speed!! We also went corrading towards a tourist tour boat’s wake and I kid you not, we all left the loch and were in the air for what felt like 20 seconds!! It was the biggest adrenaline rush ever, top tip, if you ever find yourself on a jet ski approaching a wake head on, at speed, hold on for dear life, or just scream like my sister did!!!

The scenery being on the loch is incomparable. It is so peaceful sitting on the waves and taking in the natural beauty of Scotland whilst racing your sister to the sea plane jetty on a paddle board/canoe to watch it land or take off! As you probably gathered from this blog, Abbie and I are rather competitive, but a little competition never hurt anyone, right!?
